Last week’s camping trip certainly was an adventure! We packed up the truck on the 10th in the pouring rain. Of course, as soon as we finished, it stopped but the truck was packed to the gills:

Got on the road around noon and as we were passing through Houston, we lost both front tires. An hour later and 2 stores later, we had the truck back on the road and drove into Slidell, LA with no more issues. Slept in a really nice hotel I found through priceline for $100 and then got back on the road. We arrived at the camping site in Mississippi around noon just to have the passenger side tire pretty much fall off. The ball bearings had catastrophically failed.

All the metal bits holding the tire onto the axle was one large piece of melted metal. We were very fortunate that it happened going at 5 miles an hour versus the 85 we had just been doing a few minutes before. Thankfully, when you camp with a few thousand people, it’s easy to find the necessary tools, know how and tenacity to get it fixed. The truck was back on the road by Thursday afternoon after a couple trips into Hattisburg, Miss for parts.
After that, it wasn’t so bad. It was in the high 80s with very high humidity. It made some of the fencing tournaments exhausting but fun nonetheless. The evenings were cool and damp. I woke up a couple times around 3am to go to the bathroom and got to watch the fog roll in around the tents. It was really cool.

I divide the interior in half with hanging dividers and construct the bed and arrange our totes as make shift tables.

The hanging closet shelf is a work in progress. I wanted to see if I could make it work hanging from the wagon wheel and while it was okay, I think I have a better idea of what to do so the spokes don’t have to take any weight.
But besides that, here are some of the toys I bought!
My new sword and dagger. I dubbed the sword Mars (God of War) and the dagger Minerva (Goddess of Tactics/Hunt). Complete custom job and so easy to fight with. They weight next to nothing and feel really good in my hands.

So all in all, it was a bit of a roller coaster weekend but I ended up having a blast nonetheless. :)
